Elizabeth City State University is introducing its new Welcome Center, located in the heart of campus, with an official ribbon-cutting event on July 28, 2023, at 11 a.m.  The 26,281-square-foot building previously served as the workspace for the Information Technology Department.

The renovated and newly furnished building's first floor houses the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Transfer Services and the Office of Veterans and Military Affairs, Trio, and Student ID Cards.  The second floor houses the Offices of the Registrar, Student Accounts, Cashier, and Financial Aid and Scholarships.  The building also includes a 768 square-foot theater-style auditorium with a 3 LCD laser projector.

The upgraded Welcome Center's innovative technology and design features will enhance the overall student and visitor experience by providing a one-stop shop for new and current students.  The facility includes a complete business center, a 'Viking Pride' selfie wall, and a QR code-enabled digital ticketing system for students and guests to monitor the service queue and track their wait time more effectively. The building is now fully operational and ready for the return of students to campus for the Fall 2023 semester and aligns with the ECSU Forging our Future strategic plan.

"This initiative reinforces our commitment to providing students and visitors with the best possible experience, and the new Welcome Center is a reflection of that commitment," said ECSU Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. "We greatly appreciate the generosity of Ed Advancement and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and the significant impact their help will have on future and current students. We hope this new one-stop shop will offer a space where our guests and visitors are introduced to the distinctiveness that makes ECSU a nurturing environment where Vikings Come to Discover and Leave to Conquer."
